London Nobody Knows, a 1967 film by Norman Cohen is showing at London’s ICA in January. Presented by the slightly grumpy, very dry James Mason, it’s a tour of the murkier, unglamorous and threatened aspects of London life at the time.

I have a confession to make. Despite thinking of myself as quite environmentally ‘conscious’, this hasn’t followed through to my working practices. I love paper and print, and it’s very satisfying to see that hard-earned project roll off the press in glorious colour as a physical object. (more…)

I’ve been slow to check out the new Saatchi Gallery in its new premises near Sloane Square, since the opening in October last year. I’ve seen it as several incarnations; from the warehouse space in North London as a student, to the hectic surroundings of the Southbank, and finally to its present grand Chelsea venue. (more…)

I was initially drawn to this book by the cover; a simple checkerboard pattern with the word ‘type’ jumping from the grid, the contents didn’t disappoint either. Inside were eyecatching examples of typographic arrangements that are still inspiring today. (more…)
