Matt King is the Interactive Design Director at Dusted in London. He is passionate about all things interactive, and his appreciation of good online design spreads beneath the aesthetic skin of the web to also encompass the bones of construction.

Prior to Dusted, Matt worked as Interactive Designer at Sky Interactive where he was responsible for Sky’s online offerings as well as a number of iTV applications. Before that he worked at Addison Corporate Marketing where he worked closely with several companies to develop their corporate brands online.

Bicycle Film Festival

I have always felt that there has been a strong connection between art & design and cycling. From art students on their beaten up racers to designers on their fixed gears. Here’s a festival that caters for not just the overlap of bike/artist but for anyone who loves bicycles. (more…)

Ever since there has been design on the web it has been confined by certain restrictions. Most of these limitations have changed or relaxed over the lifetime of the web as a platform for design but one limitation clings on as maybe the last major hurdle in terms of the web designer’s creative arsenal – web fonts. You’d have to have been living in a hole not to have heard of Twitter. With lots of exposure from celebrities such as Britney Spears, Shaquille O’Neil, Stephen Fry and Barack Obama it really has entered the mainstream. However, most users’ experience of Twitter is via the twitter.com web site. But there is an altogether more pleasant way to engage with Twitter. (more…)

Do me a Favicon

Often overlooked, the favicon is a key brand area for a web site. It’s a big design challenge for a little space. A 16×16 pixel square that appears next the web address in your browser. Designing for such a tiny space can be tricky. It can even be controversial. (more…)

Title area of the "Sports and Venues" section of the London 2012 web site
