Typographica at Kemistry

This Thursday (10 September) sees the opening of the Typographica exhibition at The Kemistry Gallery in London. The first exhibition of the eponymous graphic design journal. Ground-breaking when first published in 1949 and now considered legendary, Typographica showcased the very best in worldwide visual arts.

Defining the teenage experience is a nigh impossible task as times and fashions change. That aside we can generally assume that the biggest responsibilities one could have as a teenager ranged anything from delivering someone’s newspaper, walking the dog or washing the neighbours’ car.  More

I was initially drawn to this book by the cover; a simple checkerboard pattern with the word ‘type’ jumping from the grid, the contents didn’t disappoint either. Inside were eyecatching examples of typographic arrangements that are still inspiring today. More

Collage covers

Whilst browsing the shelves in a newsagent/newsstand a couple of months ago, a publication called Pin-Up caught my attention. In addition to being an original and well-designed magazine, the cover itself with its white space and use of multiple images instantly stood out amongst a sea of full bleed images.
