The downward spiral of the economy, rising unemployment, global warming, wars on terror, spiced up with the hope that ‘Change Can Happen’ from Obama makes for interesting times. I recently discovered the work of artist Santiago Sierra and was fascinated by his controversial social commentary.

Wandering around the South Bank last weekend I stumbled upon the Rankin/Oxfam installation. Earlier in the year Rankin visited the Democratic Republic of Congo to take portraits of refugee camp residents, helping raise awareness of their plight and hopefully, through an auction of the pieces and charitable donations, raising funds to help ease their suffering. More
